BHUBANESWAR: Sri Sri University will be among the world's top universities with the best facilities, founder of Art of Living Foundation Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said on Wednesday.

While addressing the youth on Sri Sri University campus, around 25 km from the capital, on Wednesday evening, Sri Sri urged the young people to come forward and be a part of the 'Volunteer for India' floated by the Art of Living Foundation.

Sri Sri also doled out a sewing machine for the women at the community hall in Gidisahi village, built by the university, in the presence of women's commission chairperson Lopamudra Mohanty.

During a brief interaction with the media soon after his arrival at Biju Patnaik airport, Sri Sri said solar lights would be provided by his foundation to all the villages in the state, which do not have electric supply.

The founder of the Art of Living Foundation said that solar lights have been supplied to 2,500 households across the state and they are functioning well.

"More solar lights will be provided in the next phase," said Sri Sri.

However, he pointed out that the work of Sri Sri University in Odisha is not progressing as expected. "I have come here to review the progress of the work of the university. I will discuss with those in charge of the works related to the university and find out ways to expedite the work," Sri Sri said.

The spiritual guru took stock of various livelihood programmes for women, construction of home for those without shelter, skill training to uneducated youth and their placement.

He said the departments of management with agri-business, entrepreneurship and general management, which started in the university in July last year, are functioning well. "Similarly, the yoga and naturopathy, performing arts departments have also started," he said, adding that from this academic year the institute plans to start new schools such as faculty of good governance and osteopathy.

Sri Sri emphasized on providing skill training to unemployed youth of the villages at the university.

"The culture of Odisha has been kept alive and it has high place in the Indian culture," he said, adding that Harvard Business School completed its Art of Living course on Wednesday.
