THE FALL THAT RAISES You only see the fall of the water. You don't see how the Ocean becomes the Cloud. The ocean becoming the cloud is a secret, but the cloud becoming the ocean is obvious. In the world only a few can notice your inner growth and height, but your outer expressions are apparent. Never brood that people don't understand you. They can only see your expression. Breathe easy
We speak with yoga teacher Jyothirmaya from the Art of Living Foundation as he brings an exciting new workshop to Dubai that aims to educate people on the benefits of meditation
How can yoga help ease some of the stress of living and working in a high-speed environment like Dubai?
Yoga provides an easy and natural way to relax consciously at the same time limbers up the body systems. Just like a well-rested and well-oiled machine functions more effectively, in the same way, yoga helps to improve physical and mental efficiency. The physical asanas (postures in yoga exercises) help to release physical stress stored in the body as a result of postural and physiological imbalances. Emotional and mental stresses are taken care of by breathing techniques and meditations. Overall, the techniques of yoga can prove to be an effective tool to deal with the fast paced lifestyle of this generation.

The recent Anna Hazare movement embodies one of the most significant and extraordinary happenings in modern India and in the history of the world: one man, using only the tools of his own will power and without any violence, whatsoever, brought an entire government to its knees, forcing it to tackle the cancer of corruption which is eating his country's entrails. It is an example for the world to follow. Yet, the whole truth may not be all that evident.
Anna has been fighting corruption in Maharashtra for many years. However, he never drew large crowds. Even his Gujarat trip had gatherings of no more than a few hundred. One would wonder what might have caused this sudden upsurge. There may be several factors behind this — the media hype, the blunders the government committed in harassing him, the anger in the people towards the government which needed a channel and, most of all, the support given by the most popular guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Sri Sri draws crowds of one to two hundred thousand wherever he goes. When Sri Sri, as one of the founders of India Against Corruption, extended his support, all these millions of people spontaneously joined Anna's cause.

Though there had been acts of terrorism before it, 9/11 compelled the world community to act. Let us look at what it brought. It brought an expenditure of billions of dollars on security. It brought two wars which snowballed into a massive economic crisis for America. It brought stringent measures like making people remove shoes before boarding flights, a ban on carrying liquids while flying and random profiling of people. After having gone through ten years of all this, we must take stock of how effective the war on terror has been. Of course, these measures have had an impact in enhancing safety. However, we have to introspect – are they enough to eliminate terrorism? An emphatic 'no'! That needs a shift in education.
What is the root cause of terrorism?Read more:http://www.artofliving.org/world-without-violence-towards-peace-post-911-world

The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn, goes the popular adage by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Bangalore-based Art of Living Foundation has taken this to heart; besides touching more than a million lives through its yoga and ashram-based techniques, the foundation has also been a silent campaigner, promoting a greener way of life.
The Art of Living ashram near Bangalore, which is being headed by spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar, is now flush with a special tree—scientifically termed the Simarouba glacua. Sri Sri fondly calls it the 'Lakshmi Taru.'
"Simarouba was named Lakshmi Taru because when a farmer invests Rs10 for the tree, he gets Rs1,000 or more as returns," he said.

Many escape from traumatic circumstances. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar sits on the first flight to the crisis, and recently it was Oslo.
After courses in prisons in Croatia this year, an Art of Living volunteer reflects on the experience. Tomislav Huha was assisting on the PrisonSMART course when a deep realization hit, a feeling of oneness with humanity, while doing breathing exercises with all the prisoners.
When you can just be yourself, express your own unique voice, style, and creativity, and just dance and sing - that's Yoga Rave. On 20 August, 2011, 500 youth celebrated with a night of high energy dance, yoga, meditation and music in Surat, India.
Selling over 700 tickets in its first show in Lenasia, South Africa, the Max Ormea & Om Ensemble launched its 'Om Shantih Tour.' On the weekend of 27th August, 2011, a combination of devotional songs, or bhajans, and the spiritual wisdom of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar were presented at the concert.

"In the history of the world, this is one such movement (of hundreds of thousands of people) without a single instance of violence, no damage to property, nor loss of life," said Sri Sri, founding member of the India Against Corruption movement. This movement has given impetus to the citizen-drafted, corruption watchdog, the Jan Lokpal bill.
Dancing to the soul-stirring music, and experiencing the natural high of meditation, 600 to 700 youth enjoyed the first-ever yoga rave in Surat, India. When Dr. Rita Billimoria first heard about the yoga rave concept, she decided to bring it to the youth in her community. Dr. Rita says, I practice yoga, and no high can match that high. Then I got to know that there was a yoga rave concept that already existed. We thought, why not in India?
The Art of Living team in Harare gave Blessings to over 600 people, who gathered at Mbare Musika, the biggest local market. The morning began with a few curious passerby seeing Santoshji in his white clothing. For over two hours, people waited in the hot sun for blessings. One lady who had been suffering with major headache for many days was relieved of her pain. Many more experienced such healing and were very keen to learn more about the upcoming BWS workshop.
On invitation of the government of Peru, The Art of Living has started regularly teaching the PrisonSMART courses for inmates. The fifth course has already been completed in Piedras Gordas prison. The PrisonSMART team plans to continue working straight through until next year, as the prison holds 1,800 inmates.
In a new workshop called Sri Sri Tango, the magic of the Argentinean Tango is bringing the whole family together to experience stress relief through dance and yoga.
