The current ISIS onslaught has aggravated humanitarian crisis in Iraq. International Association of Human Values (IAHV), in partnership with the Art of Living Foundation, is bringing relief to the internally displaced people especially the Yazidi community on the Sinjar mountains.
Yazidis are an ancient community on the verge of extinction. Over the last few decades, this community of over 23 million people have been reduced to a mere million. The thousands stranded at Mt.Sinjar relief camps are deprived of basic amenities like food, water, medication and clothes.
More than 110 tons of relief material has been collected and several tons have been air lifted and distributed. IAHV and Art of Living are rescuing abducted girls, providing food, water, medicines shelter, clothing and we are not stopping at that!
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (Founder, IAHV) had earlier called on Governments of Europe, US and India to save the thousands of Yazidis trapped in the Sinjar Mountains In Iraq. Terming it as one of the worst genocides of the 21st century, the humanitarian leader had urged people to come forward to help the people of the strife-torn land in any way they could.
Sri Sri will be visiting Erbil, Iraq as a keynote speaker for the IAHV's conference on "Protecting Women & Bringing Peace and Stability” and will also visit relief camps at Mt. Sinjar on the 19th/20th November 2014.
