Sri Sri University welcomed its third batch of MBA students on 14 July 2014, Monday at their Commencement Day Celebrations.

Beginning with a short guided meditation, the session was followed by inspirational talks by the guests of honour Shri Ajay Bagga, Executive Chairman, OPC Asset Solutions Pvt. Ltd.; Smt Rajita Kulkarni Bagga, Board Member, Sri Sri University and President, World Forum For Ethics in Business; and Shri A.K.Sabat, FCA, who inspired the students to step out of their comfort zones and make the best of the opportunity given to them to shine.

“Global research has shown that MBAs get happier as they get into a good school and start working. One of the biggest reasons for this is self-development,” said Ajay Bagga, addressing the students. “It is important to be bold and take up challenges while you are in a safe, nurturing environment such as this. Companies look for good communication skills when they hire you because the fact that you are from a top institute implies that you are technically sound. So you also have to be technically strong.” He also quoted Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji, saying “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”

Pointing out that students at the Sri Sri University have the whole global network of the Art of Living, spanning across over 150 countries, available to them, Rajita Bagga said, “This is the biggest educational project of the Art of Living for the whole world. It is really how you respond to these opportunities, how you grab and embrace them that will define your success here.”

“Guruji (Sri Sri Ravi Shankar) has given us three values for SSU: Lead, Learn and Serve. Learn from every source, learn every day, learn so you can lead and lead today. Leadership is not about arrogance, it is about taking responsibility to make a difference,” she said.

Also present on the occasion were Prof K. C. Mishra, Vice Chancellor; Khurshed Batliwala, Director, Student Affairs and Dinesh Ghodke, Director, Outreach, who interacted with the students on the pathways to excellence, both on the personal and professional front.

“When you compete, compete with yourself, because there is always going to be someone better than you,” said Khurshed. “All that is required to succeed is to ensure that you are a better human being tonight than you were in the morning.”

Attended by freshers, parents, faculty, members of the local community and the media, the evening provided insights into the broad range of trainings and skills development activities that students will undertake in next two years, about creative teaching methods and the market overview. The event concluded with a cultural performance by the students of Sri Sri University.

The Commencement Week will include talks, value-added workshops on Microsoft Excel and Youth Empowerment Skills Seminar, as well as several dance debate, mime competitions and other cultural activities. It should be noted that Sri Sri University follows an innovative blend of ancient Indian and modern global practices in management education through case-based teaching, self audit courses, summer internships, and corporate interactions. Most importantly students take oath of business ethics at the start of their two-year training, a pioneering effort to include ethics in business education and corporate life.
