More than 20,000 people are expected to take part in the second edition of Yogathon that began on May 7.
The event, which will conclude on June 15, will offer free yoga and meditation courses for corporates, blue collared workers, students at schools and colleges, and people at residential complexes.
The event is being organised by the Art of Living Foundation Oman and is supported by the Ministry of Health's Directorate General of Health Services and the Ministry of Sports Affairs.
Rajive Ahuja, a faculty member of the foundation, said, “This year we have added a meditation course to the event, called iMeditate, and we expect around 20,000 people to participate – which is more than three times the last year's number. While yoga helps the body, meditation helps control the mind, helping the person resolve issues in a better way.”
A set of 12 exercises will be taught in 30-minute sessions.
A day-long yoga and meditation sessions will be held as part of Yogathon's finale, which will be held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.
The Art of Living Foundation recently concluded a three-day course on yoga called Wake Up-Shake Up at the Jungle Restaurant, which was attended by over 400 people.
Participants who successfully passed the programme will volunteer at the Yogathon.
