Perhaps it was an appropriate way to apply a soothing balm to the wounds of those residing in the war-torn regions of Sri Lanka. As many as 1,500 persons took part in an inter-faith prayer meeting organised by the Art of Living (AoL) at the Lady Wellington College Grounds, opposite the Marina Beach. on Sunday. The participants prayed for the well-being of the Tamils who are facing uncertainty in the strife-torn regions of the island, which was recently at the centre of a row following a resolution moved against it in the United Nations Human Rights Council. Mass prayers and meditation sessions were conducted on the occasion. The event was attended by leaders from as many as five different religions — Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism and Sikhism. Veerendra, a volunteer associated with AoL for over eight years, said that the participants performed meditation and chanted prayers for the well-being of their brethren in Sri Lanka. The meeting lasted for about one-and-a-half hours. Source: The New Indian express
