The Art of Living is all set to celebrate maha shivaratri on March 10 at The Art of Living International Center, Udayapura in Bangalore. The highlight of the celebrations will be a confluence of over 250 grama devatas from villages in and around Bangalore.
Gram devatas from places like Kunigal, Chennapatna, Bidadi, Harohalli, Kanakapura, Arasikere, Tumkur, Kolar among others will be present. Some of the participating deities from Bangalore city are Vijayanagar, Malleshwaram, NR colony, Gandhinagar, Mattikere and Jayanagar.
The event is expected to attract more than 1 lakh participants. It will be followed by a Rudrabhishekham and satsang in the presence of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, said BNR Rao, media coordinator for Coastal Karnataka.
"The grama devata puja and utsav which is known as 'ooru jathre' is loosing its sheen like many other socio-religious gatherings in India. Events like this will help restore the ancient traditions and bring people together." Said Prashant Kumar, an organizer from the Art of Living.
Grama devata puja will commence at 7pm, he added.
