Sofia: Officially Bulgaria is the first country to set a Guinness world record with bagpipes. The attempt for the record took place on 16 May 2012 in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia and the organizer was the international non-governmental humanitarian organization Art of Living Foundation, announced the organization.
With its activity in over 155 countries the international foundation is the biggest volunteer organization in the world.
The inspiration for the organization of the world record was the second visit of Art of Living Foundation founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to Bulgaria. He was nominated for Nobel Peace Prize three times, won countless literature awards and has a professor rank and honoris causa degrees from over 10 universities across the world.
