CONVOCATION OF 7TH BATCH STUDENTS At VIDYA (Construction Skills Training Centre) A joint initiative of Sri Sri University and L&T Public Charitable Trust

A Construction Skills Training Centre, “VIDYA” is being set up and started functioning from 15th November 2010 at Sri Sri University campus at Bidyadharpur, Cuttack. This institute imparts 90 day free vocational training to poor/orphaned school drop out, rural unemployed youths of Odisha in Masonry , Bar bending and Steel fixing trades. This is a joint initiative of Sri Sri University and L&T Public Charitable Trust. So far this institute has trained and placed 197 such trainees successfully.

This is a purely residential programme and entire lodging, boarding, academic and other allied expenses will be borne by the centre. Besides technical training, free of cost training on Art of Living, Yoga, Dhyan, Pranayam and Sudarshan Kriya will be imparted to all trainees for character building, mental development and good health.

Aim of this programme is to train students in technical trade, mould them as responsible citizens with good habits & character and also to bring them to the main stream of society.

On 1st June 2012, the Construction Skills Training Center – “VIDYA” celebrated Convocation of its 7th Batch students at Sri Sri University site, Bidyadharpur, Cuttack with 25 students. All the students are placed under the L&T Sub Contractors at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar site. This placement was declared by Mr G.N.Pramanik and students are overwhelmed with joy and enthusiasm.


Sri Upendra Kumar Sahoo (State Liason Officer cum Deputy Secretary, Dept of Higher Education joined us as guest. He is a devotee and sourced many students of outgoing 7th Batch and the present 8th Batch. Sri Sumit Ganguly , DGM, L&T, who is also associated from the inception has encouraged students to spread word about the institutes. Mr Parsuram, DGM,L&T , who is in charge of CSTI, Gopalpur, Cuttack spoke to students about technical skills. Ms Vijaya Lakshmi Mohanty, Associated Director(PR &CSO) coordinated the whole events with the help students and staff of VIDYA, volunteers of The Art of Living and the staff of Sri Sri University. 32 new students joined the 8th Batch Training from 1st June 2012.
All the students vowed for no intoxicant and live by the ideals of revered Guruji Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji, which is a significant development. Self motivated, courageous and skills youths are ready to contribute for themselves and the society.
