The banks of the holy Godavari flowing through the historical city of Nashik will be silent witness to a unique symphony - titled “VenuNaad” - of 4000 flutists, simultaneously performing on a gigantic 30,000 sq.ft. stage on 12th January, 2015.
The artistes, drawn from every age-group, and every segment of society, will perform under the guiding baton of renowned flutist, Pt. Ronu Mazumdar, while the revered exponent of the instrument, Shri Hariprasad Chaurasia, will be the guest of honour. The symphony is one of two major events to mark the two-day visit of The Art of Living founder, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, to Maharashtra.
VenuNaad, organized by The Art of Living as part of its sustained initiatives to re-vitalise the ancient musical and dance traditions of India, will reinforce the power of music to spread peace and bring unity. The event is expected to draw an audience of 5 lakhs, and will be webcast to over 75 countries.
Says Sri Sri, “Spirituality and music together can uplift people, get them out of depression and help them start a new life with enthusiasm. For a stress-free life, you have to embrace both these facets (spirituality and music).”
VenuNaad is the latest in a symphony-series hosted by The Art of Living. The organization has always recognized music as a profound means of experiencing harmony with oneself and has organized many events of music and dance.
