WASHINGTON, August 10, 2011—Amidst budget crises and looming uncertainties, stress levels in the nation's capital are running high. How are DC area residents handling the anxiety and intense work loads?
This summer, a group of 60 volunteers at the Art of Living Foundation are taking up the challenge to "de-stress D.C." by sharing the knowledge and relaxation techniques taught in the Art of Living course.
When: Thursday, August 11th 6:30 pm- 9pm
Where: Sri Si Center for Peace and Meditation 2401 15th St. Nw. Washington D.C. 20009
Cost: Free
On Thursday, August 11th, volunteers are hosting a FREE open house at the Sri Sri Center for Peace and Meditation, inviting members of the DC community for a special evening of food, music, subtle yoga, and guided meditation.
To raise awareness for the campaign and spread a message of joyful stress reduction, the group organized DC's first ever yoga dance flash mob at Dupont Circle, gathering a crowd of hundreds of passersby, many of whom joined in on the simple yoga-inspired choreography and cheered, "de-stress DC!"
The Yoga Dance Flash Mob was such a success, the group will hold the next one in Columbia Heights at 6pm on Wednesday, August 10th.
